Yahya Radman enters his second season as the head diving coach at Wisconsin in 2022-23 after joining the program on May 19, 2021.
In his first season, Radman helped Tazman Abramowicz to an eighth-place finish in the 1-meter dive at the 2022 Big Ten Championships. Abramowicz also placed 12th in both the 3-meter and platform dives. He set a 3-meter school record on his way to qualifying to the NCAA Championship on all three events. After the NCAA championships, Abramowicz won his first Canadian National title on the 1-meter board and reset the UW's oldest record.
"We're thrilled to welcome Yahya and his family to Madison! His passion for the sport, his ability to communicate and connect with people, and his vision for the diving program really stood out to me in the hiring process," Suguiyama said. "Yahya has an awesome track record of developing high level divers and we think he's going to do great things in our new Soderholm Family Aquatic Center."
Radman is coming to Madison after spending almost seven years as the head diving coach at NC State and two years as the head diving coach at the University of Wyoming.
"My family and I are thrilled to be joining the Badgers. Yuri and his staff made this transition easy, welcoming and showed class through the whole process," Radman said. "We are beyond excited that Yuri shares my vision for our diving program and what we can do for the swimming AND diving team. ON, WISCONSIN!"
In his tenure at NC State, Radman helped his student-athletes to two women's ACC team titles, six men's ACC team titles, four individual ACC Gold Medals, two individual ACC Bronze Medals, women's NCAA second-place team finish, four men's NCAA fourth-place team finishes, three NCAA qualifiers (13 events), three NCAA All-American honors.
Specifically, he coached James Brady, who took home gold on three-meter at the 2020 ACC Championships, becoming the program's first men's diving titlist since 2000. He was also honored as the ACC Men's Diver of the Year and the ACC Championships Most Valuable Men's Diver. Brady ended his career as the first Wolfpack men's diver to become an All-American since 1978.
In his time at Wyoming, he coached a total of seven all-conference performers. Under his guidance, Derek Campbell claimed gold and silver in the three-meter and platform events, respectively, at the 2014 WAC Championships and was named WAC Diver of the Year. Radman also helped send five divers to the 2014 NCAA Zone E Diving Championships, the most representatives for the program since 2010.
Radman spent two years as an assistant diving coach at Florida State and also was an undergraduate volunteer assistant at Indiana.
Radman also owns a wealth of international experience. In 2015, he was selected as the United States women coach for XXVIII Summer Universiade in Gwangju, South Korea. In 2012, he was the United States team leader for the FINA Diving World Series in Dubai. He also coached the 2011 United States men's team in Shenzhen, China at the Summer Universiade. Prior to his time at Florida State, he spent a year and a half in Egypt and two years in China as an ESL teacher and diving consultant. In 2006, he was a guest coach to China's national and regional training centers in Beijing and Xi'an.
