The Wisconsin women's soccer team (0-1-1) hosted in-state rival UW Milwaukee (0-0-2) on Monday night at the McClimon Complex. In a defensive battle the game ended in a tie, 0-0, after two overtimes.

After the first scoreless 45 minutes Wisconsin had outshot UWM 6-4, including freshman Monica Lam-Feist's shot off the crossbar from 25 yards out in the 18th minute. Laurie Nosbusch also had an opportunity in the 36th minute of the first half from inside the box that was pushed wide by UWM's keeper Jamie Forbes.

The second half remained scoreless as well with UW coming up with two big scoring opportunities. With 12 minutes left in the half, Lindsey Johnson served the ball to Leigh Williams who had an opportunity to score but came up wide. The closest shot of game came in the final minute of regulation when freshman Derya Kelter hit a shot from the near corner that was barely over the crossbar.

The defensive battle continued in both overtimes as Michele Dalton came up big with four saves to keep the Panthers off the board. The Badgers outshot the Panthers 6-5 through both overtimes. Dalton finished the game with seven saves to keep UWM scoreless through 110 minutes.

'I thought it was an extremely well fought game between two in-state rivals, ' said head coach Paula Wilkins. 'I was obviously disappointed about the result but I'm excited about some things that we saw tonight. We're still trying to gain some composure due to our youthfulness but I was proud of the defensive work and keeping one of the top scorers from 2008 (Sarah Hagen) off the board.'

In a physical, back-and-forth game, Wisconsin held the advantage in shots 19-12, and corner kicks 7-2.

Wisconsin continues its home-stand this Friday as they face UW Green Bay at 7pm at the McClimon Complex.
