Badgers post 1-1 tie at ShindigZ National Soccer Festival

Aug. 27, 2010

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The University of Wisconsin men’s soccer team posted a 1-1 draw against the Loyola Ramblers in the team’s second preseason exhibition match of the season at IPFW’s Hefner Soccer Complex on Friday night.

The match was part of the ShindigZ National Soccer Festival. UW joined the rest of the Big Ten Conference teams in exhibition action in this weekend’s Soccerpalooza. The event continues through Sunday.

“We made another step forward in our preseason training tonight,” head coach John Trask said. “Like our game against UW-Parkside, we saw some good things along with some things we still need to work on. The team made some good progress, and we’ll continue working hard at practice this week.”

Senior Aaron Nichols (Woodstock, Ill.) scored the Badgers’ lone goal, and junior Colin Monasterio (Maple Grove, Minn.) picked up the assist on the play. Senior goalkeeper Ryan Vint (Plymouth, Minn.) played the entire game in net for UW.

Wisconsin now has one more week of preseason training before opening the 2010 season on the road at the UC Irvine College Classic. The Badgers take on Santa Clara in their first game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. CT. UW faces tournament host UC Irvine on Monday, Sept. 6.
