MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin men's soccer team (2-5-0, 0-3-0 B1G) will travel to Columbus, Ohio, for a conference match against the Ohio State Buckeyes (5-4-0, 2-1-0 B1G) on Friday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Here are five things to know about the match:
1 – HITTING THE ROAD – The Badgers will go on the road for just the second time this season. They'll look to get out to an early lead, as they did in Los Angeles two weeks ago. Wisconsin scored in the 5th minute on a Cristobal Porter goal, but saw three unanswered from the Bruins before the end of the match.
2 – LAST TIME OUT – Wisconsin dropped a 2-0 contest to the Washington Huskies last Friday in Madison. Down 1-0 in the second half, the Badgers had two goal opportunities, just missing on both. Washington's keeper Jadown Bowton made an incredible save with 10 minutes remaining to preserve the Huskies' lead. Washington added a goal at 88:00 to seal the contest.
3 – BUCKEYE BREAKDOWN – The Badgers hold a 20-18-3 edge in the all-time series against Ohio State. The Buckeyes' 3-2 win last season snapped a nine-match winning streak for Wisconsin. The Badgers' defense and goalkeeper Matisse Hébert will be tasked with keeping the Buckeyes off the scoreboard, as all four of OSU's losses have come via shutouts. Senior Marko Borkovic leads the Buckeyes with 13 points (5 goals, 3 assists) through eight games played this season.
The Buckeyes reached the 2024 NCAA College Cup semifinals last year.
