MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men’s soccer team closed out is preseason campaign with a 1-1 tie in an exhibition match against Evansville on Sunday afternoon in Angola, Ind.
“It was a sluggish start for our team, but we were able to play our way in,” said head coach John Trask. “The game was very competitive and Evansville was a very lively team.”
The Badgers conceded a goal in the first half, but found the equalized in the second behind a corner kick from Chris Prince. After Prince took the set piece, AJ Cochran headed the ball to the far side of the net, and Jacob Brindle was able to get his head on the ball to put it into the back of the net.
“We had two goo exhibitions this weekend, and most importantly we got through them injury free,” Trask said. “Now we’ll focus on getting back to Madison so we can fine tune this next weekend before heading to Memphis to open the season.”
Wisconsin begins its 2012 season on Friday, Aug. 24, traveling to Memphis to take on the Tigers at 7 p.m. CT. The game will be the only one for the Badgers on the weekend, as they return to the pitch for their second game of the season against Washington on Aug. 31, in Portland, Ore.
