MALIBU, Calif. -- The No. 13 Wisconsin women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season and fell 2-0 on the road at No. 10 Pepperdine in Malibu, California on Friday.

The Waves (3-0-0) scored two goals just over two minutes apart and gave themselves a lead midway through the first half. They would not relinquish that lead against the Badgers (2-1-0), finishing off the shuout.

Courtney Assumma scored on a free kick just outside the box in the 27th minute to give Pepperdine the first goal of the game.

It was then Michelle Maemone who scored off a rebound on a blocked shot, which pushed the Waves ahead 2-0 in the 29th minute. Kristen Rodriguez and Meghan Schoen were each credited with assists on the scoring play.

Caitlyn Clem started at goalkeeper for the Badgers (2-1-0) and made a career-high five saves in the game, but was out-dueled by Waves' keeper Hannah Seabert who recorded seven saves and the shutout.

A big advantage for Pepperdine came on corner kicks, which the Waves held a 12-2 advantage in. PEP also outshot UW, 18-11.

Rose Lavelle finished with four shots, including two shots on goal, for the Badgers.

UW suffered its first true road loss since Sept. 14 of last season at Michigan.
