Both Badgers bow out of ITAs

Josef Dodridge and Lamar Remy continue growth despite day two and three losses

TULSA, Okla. – Juniors Josef Dodridge and Lamar Remy continued their efforts in Tulsa this Sunday at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships but were unsuccessful in advancing in bracket play.

Dodridge built on Saturday's performance, finding another win early on Sunday morning against Henry Ji of USC, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. The junior marched on into the next round of the tournament but found resistance against Joshua Peck of North Carolina, 6-4, 6-4, ending his run in singles play.

"Joe started really well but struggled a little bit with staying focused on the game plan," assistant coach Scoville Jenkins said. "He had a lot of success when he did things we work on in practice but struggled a little more when he diverted from the game plan and did his own thing."

After notching a pair of wins on day one of the qualifying rounds at the ITA Championships, Remy suffered an early loss 6-3, 6-4, against Southern Florida's Peter Bertran.

"Even though Lamar lost right off the bat, he played extremely well and lost a lot of close points," Jenkins stated. "He was right there the whole match and if he had a couple close points swing his way, the result might have ended differently."

Dodridge and Remy also teamed up at the ITA Championships on Monday to compete in the men's doubles bracket, losing in the round of 64 to Mississippi State's duo Niclas Braun and Trevor Foshey, 6-3, 6-4.

"I'm very pleased with their performances," Jenkins continued. "They definitely played much better today than they did at the Ivy Plus last weekend. It just shows that they're building and growing with the season and that's all we can really ask for."
