SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Wisconsin men's tennis team ran away with the day at the Bobby Bayliss Invitational, finishing singles play 7-1 and doubles play 3-1. Junior
Chema Carranza shined individually throughout the three days, going 4-0 on the weekend and earning a place on the All-Tournament team.
"I am so happy with the way we finished today's matches," head coach
Danny Westerman said. "We came out ready to go right from the start of doubles with four wins and it carried over nicely to our singles matches."
In Carranza's first match of Sunday action, the junior beat Michigan's Davis Crocker in three sets, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4. Carranza also enjoyed a flawless tournament on the doubles courts, teaming with freshman
Chase Colton to beat the Louisville duo of Hedley and Donahue, 8-2. With a 3-0 weekend, the tandem moved to 6-0 on the young season.
Carranza wasn't the only Badger with a successful weekend in South Bend, Indiana. Freshman

John Zordani each tallied three wins during the tournament.
On Sunday, Soyfer won his match in two sets against Penn State's Aws Laaribi, 7-6 (2), 6-1. Sweet went the distance against Marquette's Andrea Romanello to get the win, 6-3, 6-7, 11-9. Zordani dispatched of Louisville's Clement Filho, 7-6, 6-2.

Darius Mackenzie and sophomore
Osgar O'Hoisin pulled out wins in their final singles matches. Colton claimed a 6-3, 7-6 (4) against Brendon Kempin of Notre Dame, while Mackenzie garnered a 6-4, 6-4 over Memphis' Turner Vogues and O'Hoisin tallied a 7-5, 6-2 win over Zac Brodney of Indiana, 7-5, 6-2.
In doubles action, O'Hoisin and Soyfer polished off a 3-0 weekend together with a win over Michigan's Davis Crocker and Runhao Hua, 8-4.
Junior
Elliott Sprecher also found success in the doubles bracket with partner
Alan Sweet, notching an 8-5 victory over Indiana.
"We talked about making sure we are sticking to our game plans regardless of the situation," Westerman said. "Each player really did a great job with that today."
The Badgers get next weekend off and will return to action on October 20th at the ITA-All American Tournament in Columbus, Ohio.
