BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Wisconsin men's tennis team hit the road this weekend looking for a pair of wins against No. 64 Indiana and No. 59 Purdue to close out the regular season. 

Unfortunately, the Badgers (14-7, 4-6 Big Ten) were blanked by the Hoosiers on Friday, falling 4-0 to the conference foes.

"I'm very proud of the fight in our team," said head coach Danny Westerman. "Indiana has been playing well as of late, and they're pretty tough to play at their courts."

Indiana got on the board first after some close doubles play. Sophomore Chema Carranza and senior Jakhongir Jalalov earned the only Wisconsin win of the day, defeating Stefan Lugonjic and Chris Essick, 6-4, and improving their spring record as a pair to 13-3.

The doubles point came down to the No. 1 spot, where sophomores Josef Dodridge and Lamar Remy battled hard, but came up short against Indiana's Daniel Bednarczyk and Sam Monette, falling 7-6 (7-3).

In singles action, the Hoosiers took off. Alfonso Salgado defeated sophomore Darius Mackenzie at the No. 6 spot, 6-3, 6-1. Chema Carranza then fell to Daniel Bednarczyk, 6-3, 7-6.

Indiana clinched the win at the No. 2 spot, as Raheel Manji defeated Lamar Remy in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0.

"The learning process is difficult and the line between playing passively or over-aggressively is very fine," said Westerman. "We're finding the sweet spot at times during the match and just need to do a better job of staying in it near the end."

Despite the loss, the Badgers hope to close out the regular season with a win on Sunday against No. 59 Purdue. Match time against the Boilermakers set for 9 a.m. (CT) in West Lafayette, Ind.
