PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Wisconsin men's tennis team closed out the Ivy Plus Invitational on Sunday with a few losses but a whole lot of experience.

"It was really tough today," said assistant coach Scoville Jenkins. "Despite that, they all gave great effort and fought hard. It just didn't go our way. Overall, the tournament was really good and gave us a look at some great competition."

In the singles division, freshman Chase Colton fought hard in a three set loss to Miguel Alda of Columbia, 6-4, 1-6, 10-1. Junior Josef Dodridge was handed a two set loss to Penn State's Christian Lakoseljac, 6-1, 6-4. Junior Lamar Remy and sophomore Osgar O'Hoisin also suffered three set losses, 6-3, 0-6, 10-8 and 6-4, 4-6, 10-7, respectively.

On the doubles side, Colton and O'Hoisin battled to an 8-6 loss against Tennessee's Steven Karl and Luca Wiedenmann. Dodridge and Remy also came up empty-handed, losing 8-5 against Harrison O'Keefe and Gabriel Friedrich of South Carolina.

"I'd really like to see us build on today and in the future, commit to the game plan and stick with it," stated Jenkins. "Even if things aren't going our way."

The Badgers will now focus their energy on the ITA All-Americans tournament that commences on Oct. 1 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Badger men's tennis team fought hard in the second day of the Ivy Plus Invitational, battling to a 3-2 singles record against highly-touted competition.

"The guys definitely showed a lot more mental toughness today," said assistant coach Scoville Jenkins. "They never gave up at all and today was a much better day -- a critical building day after yesterday."

In men's singles action, junior Lamar Remy got the day going for the Badgers, collecting a win over Princeton's Luke Gamble, 2-6, 6-2, 10-7.

"Lamar showed a lot of great things as well," stated Jenkins. "He showed that he could have a plan B when his plan A isn't working."

Sophomore Osgar O'Hoisin continued with the baton, as he ended the day 2-0 gaining wins over Marist's Jan Dernic, 6-3, 6-0, and Penn State's Ben Lieb, 7-6 (8-6), 6-3.

"Osgar showed a lot of good things in his matches. He was down a break in the second but continued fighting to a win," added Jenkins.

Junior Josef Dodridge and freshman Chase Colton suffered hard-fought losses in singles action. Dodridge fell to Timothy Stodder of Tennesee in two sets, 7-5, 6-4, while Colton suffered a three-set loss to Dartmouth's David Horneffer, 6-0, 4-6, 10-5.

"Chase's performance really stuck out today," recanted Jenkins. "He played a guy who was a freshman and they both knew each other. Chase actually lost the first set 6-0, and then bounced back really well. He showed a lot of good things."

In men's doubles action, Dodridge and Remy split matches, winning their first competition 8-5 against Fliegner/Glasnovich of Dartmouth. The duo moved on to play last year's All-American duo from Columbia's Hadavi and Pham, getting handed an 8-1 loss.

Also in the doubles bracket were Badger players Colton and O'Hoisin, who went 0-2 on the day losing to Columbia's Alda/Grant 8-7 and Penn State's Lieb/Collado, 8-3.

The Badgers continue play on Sunday at the Ivy Plus Invitational when they square off for the final day of action in the men's singles and doubles brackets.

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Badgers knew they'd be stepping up in competition in week two of the fall schedule. After posting a collective team singles record of 17-3 last weekend at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, the Wisconsin men's tennis team found the challenge much tougher Friday on the opening day of the Ivy Plus Tournament in Princeton, New Jersey.

"Chase Colton was the only player who played so far in the fall season", recanted assistant coach Scoville Jenkins. "For everyone else – Lamar Remy, Osgar O'Hoisin, and Josef Dodridge – this was their first tournament of the fall season. There was some rust there but also a lot of good things."

Seeing his first action of the 2016-17 season, junior Lamar Remy opened with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Columbia's Richard Pham. In round two, Remy couldn't keep up with Cornell's Colin Sinclair, falling 6-3, 6-0.

Josef Dodridge also made his season debut, dropping a heartbreaking 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) decision to 94th-ranked Tyler Lu of Yale in the opening round. The junior would bounce back in his first match of the Tiger Draw consolation bracket, knocking off Dartmouth's Max Fliegner, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0.

A week after going undefeated at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, freshman Chase Colton continued his hot start with a comeback win over Cornell's Bernardo Casares, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Colton would get bounced to the consolation bracket one round later by Princeton's Kial Kaiser, 6-1, 6-3.

"Chase's first match this morning was phenomenal", said Jenkins. "I thought he looked really, really good. He showed a lot of great signs for the future."

Sophomore Osgar O'Hoisin played just one match on Friday, falling 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 to Cornell's Daniel Grunberger.

"The whole team did something great today and that was very nice to see", added Jenkins. "Tomorrow, we need to be more consistent and bring the same intensity to both matches."
