Sweep sensation: Badgers take opening doubleheader

Wisconsin takes down South Dakota State 7-0, start season 2-0

MADISON, Wis. – After a thrilling win earlier in the afternoon over Valparaiso, the Badgers had a quick turnaround against South Dakota State on Saturday for the latter half of their doubleheader. Wisconsin made even quicker work on the Jackrabbits, collecting the doubles point and taking all six singles matches.

In the singles category, sophomore Osgar O'Hoisin bounced back from a loss earlier in the day with a strong 6-0, 6-0 win over Gabriel Santos.

Freshmen Daniel Soyfer and Chase Colton – integral parts in the Valparaiso win – continued their trend of success with 6-2, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-1 wins, respectively.

Senior John Zordani and Lamar Remy also punched wins for the Badgers, winning 6-0, 6-3 and 6-3, 6-1, respectively.

Junior Josef Dodridge capped the day off for the Badgers with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Emerson Styles.

In doubles, Remy and Colton punched the clock first a 6-2 win over Pereira and Tang. Zordani and O'Hoisin followed suit with a 6-1 victory.

The Badgers are back in action on Friday at home when they take on Middle Tennessee State at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. Admission is free.
