MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men's soccer (7-4-3 overall, 3-3-1 Big Ten) plays the final two regular-season matches of the season on the road at Milwaukee (Oct. 24, 7 p.m.) and at Ohio State (Oct. 29, 12 p.m.). 1. A LOOK BACK: Wisconsin suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss in the final minute of double overtime to No. 1 Indiana on the road. The Badgers fell behind in the opening minute of the match but forced overtime late in the second half when senior Tom Barlow launched a rocket in. Senior Philipp Schilling was a force against the Indiana offense, which ranks seventh in the nation in scoring offense. The Wisconsin goalkeeper faced a flurry of shots, gathering 10 saves and holding Indiana's high-powered offense to two goals. He has been in goal against three top-five teams in a row.
2. WE'VE GOT HISTORY: UW leads the all-time series with Milwaukee, 19-13-7, but trail at Milwaukee, 6-8-6. However, the Badgers have been dominant since 2006Â with an 8-1-3 mark, including four-consecutive wins since tying them in the regular season in 2013. Last year, the Badgers trampled the Panthers with a 3-0 blanking in Madison with goals from Brian Hail, Chris Mueller and Sam Brotherton, while Mueller also accounted for two assists.
3. SCOUTING MILWAUKEE: The Panthers are 8-5-2 on the season and 4-3-0 in the Horizon League. They are currently on a three-game winning streak after taking down Cleveland State, Wright State and Detroit Mercy. The Panthers and Badgers have faced two of the same teams, Marquette and Wright State, and both came out with victories. Both teams battled Wright State into overtime while Wisconsin won 2-1 and Milwaukee won 3-2. In addition, both teams shut out the Golden Eagles, as UW won 3-0 and Milwaukee won 2-0.
4. DOUBLING DEFENDERS: Defender Robin Olofsson logged the first assist of his career against the top-ranked Hoosiers. Wisconsin defenders have dished out four assists this season and accounted for two goals.
5. COMING UP SOON: The OSU game marks the fourth-straight conference game that the Badgers will have played an opponent that is ranked or receiving votes.
BONUS: Head coach John Trask is a native of Milwaukee as well as players Isaac Schlenker and Jack Shaw. Shaw played for Marquette University high school and Schlenker played at the University School of Milwaukee.
