We've got "Five Things to Know" for Sunday's game against Yale.
FIVE THINGS TO KNOW: YALE
1. OPENING STATEMENT: Wisconsin began its 119th season of men's basketball with an 85-50 win over South Carolina State Friday night. Four players scored in double figures as the Badgers shot 57.1% overall and 10-for-23 from 3-point range and out-rebounded SCSU, 41-22.
2. GARD IN CONTROL: Greg Gard improved to 43-18 (.704) as head coach at Wisconsin, the second-best win percentage through 61 games in school history -- Walter Meanwell went 57-4 (.934) from 1911-14.
3. WHO'S BACK: Wisconsin returns just 1 starter from last season, 2017 third-team All-American Ethan Happ. Sophomore guard D'Mitrik Trice is the only other player on the roster that has started a game, making two starts in 2016-17. The Badgers will have just one senior in 2017-18, former walk-on Aaron Moesch. In all, UW graduated 5 seniors who accumulated 4,802 career points and 350 combined starts. The Badgers brings back just 38.3% of the points scored a year ago and 39.4% of minutes played.
4. HAPP-ENS TO BE ONE OF THE BEST: A third-team AP All-American last season, junior Ethan Happ is on every national player of the year award watch list and was named to the preseason All-Big Ten team and second-team preseason All-American by ESPN.com. In his first game of the season, Happ led UW with 20 points and 11 rebounds, his 20th-career double-double.
5. TOUGH ROAD AHEAD: Wisconsin's 2017-18 schedule features a minimum of 9 games against teams in the AP preseason poll and another 3 against teams receiving votes. The Badgers earned 14 votes in the preseason poll, the first time UW hasn't appeared in the opening top 25 since 2010.
ALL-TIME vs. YALE: Wisconsin and Yale will meet for the fifth time in  in history. The Badgers own a 3-1 lead in the all-time series, but the two schools haven't met since an 87-77 UW win in 1983.
- Wisconsin and Yale have met just once in Madison when the Badgers claimed a 64-46 win at the UW Field House in 1956.
- The Badgers are 18-7 all-time against Ivy League teams, most recently defeating Cornell, 73-40, at the Kohl Center on Nov. 18, 2012.
