Game Coverage

Wednesday, Dec. 13  |  7 p.m. (CT)  |  Kohl Center

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin looks to bounce back from rare back-to-back home losses when it hosts Western Kentucky on Wednesday at the Kohl Center. Since 2001, this is just the fifth time the Badgers have dropped two straight at home. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. (CT) on FS1.

Up next, the Badgers take an extended break for final exams on campus and return to action against Green Bay on Dec. 23 at the Kohl Center.

FIVE THINGS TO KNOW: WESTERN KENTUCKY

1. TOUGHEST STRETCH: Wisconsin has played arguably the toughest schedule in the country so far. The Badgers have played eight games against the KenPom top-60, the most in the nation. UW is also one of two teams in the country that has played four ranked teams this season.
2. BEEN HERE BEFORE: Wisconsin has a below .500 record through 11 games for the first time since 2001-02, the first year under Bo Ryan and Greg Gard. That team was 5-6 and rallied to finish 19-13, winning a share of the Big Ten championship and reaching the NCAA tournament.
3. INJURY UPDATE: UW announced this week that starting point guard D'Mitrik Trice underwent foot surgery on Monday and is out indefinitely. Freshman Kobe King was also lost for the entire season after he had knee surgery on Monday. King was averaging 19.0 mpg and 5.2 ppg.
4. GOOD TO BE HOME: Having already played five games away from home this season, the Badgers are glad to be back at the Kohl Center where they have won 86.3% of their games all-time.
5. THISCLOSE: Wisconsin has lost seven games this season, but has been within minutes of winning four of them. In each of those four setbacks, UW was tied or within two points with 2:00 remaining.

ALL-TIME vs. WESTERN KENTUCKY

Wisconsin is 1-0 all-time against Western Kentucky, claiming a win in the only meeting, 73-62, in the 1989 San Juan Shootout in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

  • Wisconsin is 8-3 against members of Conference USA, most recently topping UAB, 72-43, in the 2014 Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament.
  • The Badgers and Hilltoppers have one common opponent this season. WKU defeated Purdue, 77-73, earlier this year at the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. UW plays at Purdue on Jan. 16 and hosts the Boilermakers on Feb. 15.

LAST TIME OUT

MARQUETTE 82, WISCONSIN 63
Dec. 9, 2017 | Kohl Center | Madison, Wi.

  • For the second straight home game, Wisconsin could not overcome its opponent's hot-shooting start, falling, 82-63, to Marquette.
  • The Golden Eagles hit seven of their first eight 3-point attempts and finished 14-for-22 (63.6%), while UW was just 4-for-12 (33.3%). UW out-rebounded MU, 31-30, but allowed a 28-8 deficit in points off turnovers.
  • Freshman Brad Davison led Wisconsin with a career-high 20 points (11-for-16 FTs). He also dished a career-best four assists.
  • Junior Ethan Happ scored 17 points to go with nine rebounds, four assists and two steals. Sophomore Brevin Pritzl chipped in 10 points.
