Bounce back: Badgers take down Princeton

Hungry after a loss the day before, UW responds with 4-3 win at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – After suffering a loss to Penn University less than 24 hours earlier, the Badgers hit the ground running against Princeton on Sunday, earning a 4-3 victory. UW (4-1) secured the doubles point early in the match and split singles play 3-3 to seal the team's first-ever road win over the Tigers.

"The guys did an absolutely fantastic job responding after a very tough loss yesterday," head coach Danny Westerman said. "They made the necessary mental adjustments to give us a chance to win."

In singles play, junior captain Lamar Remy jumped a spot in the Badger rotation to the No. 1 singles position where he faced Alexander Day, beating the Tiger 6-3, 5-6, default. Remy continues his impressive marks in the spring season, moving to 4-1.

Another junior and previous No. 1 singles player Josef Dodridge made it two wins in a row, defeating Diego Vives 7-5, 6-4. Dodridge moves to 3-1 on the year.

Junior Chema Carranza earned the final win of the day in epic three-set comeback fashion, knocking off Thomas Colautti, 1-6, 7-6 (9-7), 7-5.

Freshman Daniel Soyfer did all he could to keep his undefeated streak in the dual season but fell to No. 101 ranked Payton Holden in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5.)

In doubles play, sophomore Osgar O'Hoisin and senior John Zordani teamed up for a doubles match of epic proportions. The duo faced Kial Kaiser and Diego Vives at the No. 3 spot and won, 7-6 with an outstanding 15-13 tiebreak.

Remy and freshman doubles partner Chase Colton picked up the other doubles win for Wisconsin, beating Colautti and Payton Holden, 6-3.

The Badgers move to 6-1 all-time against the Tigers.

Wisconsin is back in action on Thursday at home when it takes on Drake at Nielsen Tennis Stadium starting at 3 p.m. Entry is free.
