A 7-0 win at Michigan State clinches Badgers most Big Ten wins since 2010

EAST LANSING, Mich. – It's been a breakout season for the Wisconsin (14-3, 5-1) men's tennis team. The Badgers added another line to their already impressive 2017 resume by picking up a 7-0 win over Michigan State on the outdoor courts Saturday afternoon. That shutout of the Spartans (10-12, 0-6) gave UW five Big Ten victories and clinched the team's highest conference win total since 2010.

With five regular-season matches yet to play, Wisconsin also already matched last year's overall win total.

One week ago against Illinois, the Badgers dropped the doubles point for the first time all year. They would make sure that didn't happen again, bouncing back to take two of three matches and win the doubles point Saturday.

Junior Lamar Remy and freshman Chase Colton moved to 15-2 together this spring, sneaking past Michigan State's Jasper Koenen and Doug Francken, 7-6 (7-3).

Juniors Chema Carranza and Josef Dodridge posted a big win at the No. 1 doubles spot with a 6-4 win over Michael Dube and Colin Harvey. On court 3, senior John Zordani and sophomore Osgar O'Hoisin came up just short, dropping a tie-breaker match to Billy Shisler and Brett Forman, 7-6 (7-5).

The Badgers swept singles the same way they swept play – with tough-minded wins.

Remy got himself back on track with a close win at the No. 1 singles spot after losing his last two matches. The junior came back from a first-set loss to claim a 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) win over Forman. Remy is now 10-6 in the spring season.

Dodridge and Carranza upheld their doubles standard in the singles bracket with wins at the No. 2 and 4 spots, respectively. Dodridge grabbed his match in three sets with a win over Jasper Koenen, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5. Carranza added to his career-high win total with a straight-set statement over Ivan Rakic, 6-3, 6-4. Dodridge is now 4-1 in Big Ten play and 18-13 on the year while Carranza is a team-best 24-6 on the year.

UW's freshmen also came out strong at the bottom of the lineup on Saturday. Colton and Daniel Soyfer claimed wins at the No. 5 and 6 positions, respectively. Colton won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3 over Alexander Kim, while Soyfer earned a hard-fought three-set victory over Shisler, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4. Soyfer is now 21-8 overall and 12-3 in the dual season.

Sophomore Osgar O'Hoisin claimed a win at the number No. 3 spot over Michigan State's Michael Dube, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. O'Hoisin moves to 19-13 on the season.

The Badgers will wrap a two-match swing through the state of Michigan on Sunday when they take on No. 15 Michigan (15-4, 5-1). The match is set to begin at 11 a.m. (CT).
