TULSA, Okla. -- Seniors Chema Carranza and Josef Dodridge didn't have an easy path into the main draw of the ITA Championships. The duo faced three daunting matches before seeing light at the end of the tunnel. With three wins under their belt, the tandem now looks to make a wave in the 32-team main draw.

The pair upended two very solid doubles teams from Hofstra and Abilene Christian on Monday afternoon. Their stellar play continued into Tuesday night's match with a 7-6 (5), 6-1 win over Memphis's 41st-ranked duo, Kai Lemke and Matt Story.

Carranza and Dodridge now move into the main draw where they will face Andy Andrade and Chase Perez-Blanco of Florida.

On the singles side, Carranza also entered the ITA All-American Championships with a lot to prove. Unranked and not a single win over a ranked player on his resume, Carranza was placed in the pre-qualifying bracket and a long-shot to make any noise.

After three pre-qualifying wins and then back-to-back victories over players in the national ITA rankings, Carranza was on the doorstep of the tournament's main draw.

On Tuesday morning, Carranza shook off a first-set tie-breaker loss to knock off Stanford's 97th-ranked Sameer Kumar, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-2. One win shy of advancing to the main draw, Carranza's run ended with a hard-fought three-set loss to #101 Walker Duncan, 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (4) of Georgia.

Scoville's Scope: "Chema was an absolute warrior out there. I am very proud to be one of his coaches at Wisconsin. He gave it everything he had and it was so inspiring to watch. Joe and Chema played a great all-around doubles match (against Memphis). I'm very happy for them to be in the main draw."
