Wisconsin kicks off the spring with a dominant home win over DePaul

MADISON, Wis. – It didn't take long for the Badgers to shake off rust from their time off and start the spring season at an elite level. Wisconsin took the first dual match of 2018 with a convincing 6-1 win over DePaul.

The doubles point gave Wisconsin an early lead and confidence going into the rest of the match. No. 1 doubles pair of Chema Carranza and Josef Dodridge – fresh off their hot fall season play – gave the Badgers the first doubles tally. The seniors posted a dominating 6-1 win over DePaul's Christopher Casati and Conor O'Meara. Sophomore Daniel Soyfer and junior Osgar O'Hoisin followed suit at the No. 3 spot with a 6-2 win over Fran Tonejc and Tamas Zador to clinch the point.

Sophomore Chase Colton's fiery personality coupled with a dynamic straight-set win gave the Badgers all they needed finish out the dual match strong. After Colton's 6-1, 6-2 win, Wisconsin captured the next four matches to clinch.

Captain's Corner:
Senior Lamar Remy
"We've been busting ourselves for the past two and a half weeks training and getting ready. We were all really pumped for this match. DePaul beat Purdue last week so we all made sure we were well prepared for this match."

"We're just going to focus on competing again this year. As long as we put forth our best effort in each and every match, we – along with the coaches – will be happy."

Up Next: The Badgers take a short break before firing up the engine for the second part of the doubleheader against the Omaha Mavericks. The match will start at 5 p.m. (CT).
