Wisconsin Pre-Nationals

Saturday, Oct. 13 | 10 am — Madison, Wis.

MADISON, Wis. – The No. 8 Wisconsin women's cross country team will host the Pre-National meet on Saturday at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.

The meet is scheduled to begin with the women's "Cardinal" 6K race at 10:00 a.m. (CT) with the women's "White" 6K race, which features the Badgers, to follow at 10:45 a.m. The men's "Cardinal" 8K race will begin at 11:30 p.m., followed by the men's "White" 8K race at 12:15 p.m. Rounding out the day will be the women's "Gray" 6K race at 1:00 p.m. with the men's "Gray" 8K race to occur at 1:45 p.m.

There is no spectator parking at the cross country course or University Ridge. Spectator parking will be located at EPIC Systems in Verona.

Spectator shuttles are available to transport spectators for $10 round trip. Accessible shuttles will be available. The shuttle service will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude one hour after the final race has finished.

1. STRENGTH IN NUMBERS: Seventy teams will compete at the Wisconsin Pre-National meet including, 20 of 30 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association ranked teams. Three of the top-five teams from the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll will be in Madison this weekend and 20 of FloTrack's 25 ranked runners will be racing.

2. HOMETOWN HERO: Wisconsin's own Alicia Monson will race at the Pre-National meet. Monson is coming off of an impressive win at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational Presented by Under Armour. She is now ranked by FloTrack as the No. 2 runner in Division 1. Monson is currently undefeated after two consecutive wins on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.

3. A NEW NO. 1 COMES TO TOWN: Sharon Lokedi took over as No.1 in the FloTrack individual rankings after a first place finish at Rim Rock. Lokedi, a senior at Kansas, has competed in the Pre-National meet three times, and has finished in the top ten each time. Lokedi will run against UW's Alicia Monson in the White Race.

4. FAMILIAR FACES: Of the 70 teams competing at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals, 16 of them have already raced at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. All top-four runners are returning from the Nuttycombe including 2017 NCAA Cross Country Champion, Ednah Kurgat, a junior out of New Mexico.

5. GREAT LAKES SHOWDOWN: The Wisconsin Pre-National meet will give a preview to the Great Lakes Regional meet on November 9th. 12 of the top 15 Great Lakes Region teams will be competing in the Wisconsin Pre-National. This also includes a Big Ten showdown between No. 1 Wisconsin, No. 2 Michigan, and No. 3 Indiana before the Big Ten Championships on October 28th.
