Badgers head to second-to-last fall tournament
MADISON, Wis. - Getting ready to compete in its penultimate fall tournament, the Wisconsin women's tennis team wil travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama this weekend to compete in the Roberta Alison Fall Classic at the University of Alabama.
1. MOST RECENT: The latest action for UW tennis came this past weekend as Lexi Keberle, Ava Markham, Anna Makarova and MaryAnn Rompf competed in the ITA Midwest Regional Championships. Sophomore Lexi Keberle went the furthest for UW, competing in the round of 16 before being eliminated by No. 18 Kate Fahey of Michigan.
2. TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE: The Roberta Alison Fall Classic will take place on Friday and Saturday on the campus of th University of Alabama. Play will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and the tournament will use Sunday as a rain day only. A live link to courts 1-6 can be found here. Juniors Melissa Pick and Christina Zordani, sophomore Rompf and freshman Markham will all be competing in the tournament.Â
3. FORMAT: The tournament will have draws of eight in singles and doubles. Each Badger will be guaranteed at least three matches in both singles and doubles play. There are 21 teams competing in the tournament including Ole Miss, Clemson, Kentucky. Â
4. A LOOK AHEAD: Following the Roberta Alison Fall Classic, the Badgers will compete in the FSU All-Conference Showdown in Tallahassee, Florida to close out the fall season. UW will pick up the spring season in Miami at Florida International University.
