SEATTLE, Wash. – It was a weekend for learning. The Wisconsin men's tennis team (4-4) came up unsuccessful in both games in their road trip west, falling on Sunday afternoon to a very solid Washington team, 5-2.
Two days after dropping the doubles point for the first time of the season Friday at Oregon, Wisconsin returned to form on Sunday clinching the early point.
Senior Chema Carranza and sophomore
Chase Colton played a wonderful match at the No. 2 spot, winning 6-0 over Washington's Jake Douglas and Jack Davis. Sophomore Daniel Soyfer and Jasper Freimuth sealed the deal with a tiebreak win over Piers Foley and Mitch Stewart, 7-6 (5).
However, the tides changed rapidly with the doubles conclusion. The Badgers would win just one of six singles matches, courtesy of Soyfer, who posted a very successful 2-0 weekend. He got knocked off Amit Batta in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
Up Next: Wisconsin is back in action at home at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium on Thursday, Feb. 15, to take on in-state rival, Marquette at 6 p.m. (CT).
