The Badgers wallop Pennsylvania in bounce back home victory

MADISON, Wis.  Wisconsin (6-5, 1-0 B1G) was all-business in returning home to Nielsen on Friday afternoon for their match against Pennsylvania (3-6). The Badgers remain a perfect 6-0 at home this season.

UW dominated the doubles frame and used it as a launching point into the singles category.

Senior Josef Dodridge and junior Osgar O'Hoisin were in control at the No. 1 spot, beating Penn's Kyle Mautner and Dmitri Shatalin, 6-1. Sophomores Daniel Soyfer and Chase Colton followed suit with a 6-2 win of their own over Nicholai Westergaard and Josh Pompan.

In singles, the Badgers rallied behind a trio of straight-set wins from Colton, Soyfer and Dodridge en route to a 6-1 decision.

Soyfer kept his perfect season alive and advanced his spring record to 9-0 with his win at the No. 3 spot over Penn's Shatalin, 6-2, 6-1. ITA's No. 106-ranked player Dodridge improved his standing with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Josh Pompan.

Westerman's Wing: "They just really played like a team. They've been trying hard all year but they just focused in on the things they could control today. They fought hard for each other, they played together. It was great to see a full team effort. All three doubles teams were ready to go. There wasn't a dip in the lineup anywhere today – win or lose. The energy was great – it was fun to watch."

"It's all about the team. If it's about the team, you're going to bring everything. They just wanted this so badly. We played hard and our level went up."

Up Next: The Badgers travel to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to take on Middle Tennessee State on Sunday at 10 a.m. (CT).

"We played Middle Tennessee last year but I think they've been much improved this season. They played a good Big Ten team, Indiana, to a tight 4-3 match this year, so it's going to be another battle. Every match on our schedule we could win or lose. If we're not ready to go we could lose it, if we're ready to go I think we have a really good shot."
