SAN PEDRO DEL PINATAR, MURCIA, SPAIN – Former Badger defender Sam Brotherton received his 10th cap with the New Zealand national team in a friendly against Canada at the Pinatar Arena in Spain.

New Zealand had three prime goal scoring opportunities but were unable to convert. In the 54th minute, Canada fired in the only goal of the match, giving them a 1-0 victory.

Brotherton was in the first Starting XI for New Zealand's new head coach Fritz Schmid in his first game.
