MADISON, Wis. – Make it four in a row for the Wisconsin men's tennis team; the most recent victory coming in the form of a convincing shutout of No. 44 Iowa.
The trio of junior
Osgar O'Hoisin, senior
Chema Carranza and sophomore
Daniel Soyfer secured Sunday's match for the Badgers (2-1 Big Ten, 10-6 overall), sweeping the No. 44 Hawkeyes (1-1, 9-8) and recording their first ranked win of the season.
O'Hoisin finished first, flying by his opponent, 6-1, 6-1. Not long after, Carranza grabbed point number three for UW, defeating Joe Tyler, 6-3, 6-1.
With his teammates watching from the sideline, Soyfer finished off Kareem Allaf, 6-3, 6-2 before being charged and huddled around by his fellow Badgers.
Wisconsin came out of the gates with intense energy, taking the doubles point after the No. 2 duo of O'Hoisin and Soyfer breezed by Iowa's Will Davies and Piotr Smietana, 6-0.
Senior Joseph Dodridge and Carranza knocked off Allaf and Jonas Larsen, 6-1 to secure the Badgers' first point.
Singles No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 were all retired by Iowa, giving Wisconsin a 7-0 victory.
Up next: UW is back in action on Friday, March 30 at 6 p.m. when they host No. 45 Penn State, the first of two matches during the weekend.
