May 4-6 | Goodman Diamond | Madison, Wis.MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin softball team closes out its regular season this weekend at home against Northwestern. The games at Goodman begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, 12 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday.
1. STELLAR SENIORS: Before and after Sunday's game, Wisconsin seniors Samantha Arents, Brianna Flugaur, Kelsey Jenkins, Mariah Watts and Brooke Wyderski will be honored. The senior class is one special group with a 109-91 record and a trip to the NCAA tournament in 2017.
2. ROCKIN' THE CIRCLE: Haley Hestekin and Kaitlyn Menz dominated in the circle throughout the Nebraska series, striking out 13 batters as the Badgers outscored the Huskers, 28-7. Hestekin picked up two wins to improve her record to 14-6. Menz shined on Sunday when she fanned six batters in four innings of work.
3. STRAIGHT FIRE: Senior Kelsey Jenkins is making the most of her last few weeks as a Badger. This weekend she was unstoppable, notching eight hits in 10 at-bats with eight RBI and a home run. She also scored six runs on the weekend, upping her school record for career runs to 177.
4. SEE YA!: Home runs have been a huge part of Wisconsin's offense throughout the month of April. In the last 10 games the Badgers have homered 11 times. This weekend Wisconsin went yard four times, including a two-home run outing from freshman Taylor Johnson on Friday.
5. SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN: After a midweek game at DePaul, the Wildcats travel to Madison for the last series of regular season play. Last weekend Northwestern went 2-1 to win its series against Iowa. They are tied for fourth in the Big Ten with a 13-6 record and are 32-14 overall.
