MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin has certainly had some home success this season, posting a 10-1 record at the Nielsen. But the road has been long and hard for the Badgers this season, as they move to 1-5 in away matches after a 4-3 loss at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
Senior
Chema Carranza started the Badgers out strong in singles, winning his match against Javier Rodriguez in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
Wisconsin posted two more wins on the day from freshman
Robert Krill and sophomore
Daniel Soyfer. Krill and Soyfer both took their matches to three sets on Saturday and both came from down a set to win. Krill won over Dominik Sochurek 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, while Soyfer posted his victory over Mateo Julio 6-7, 6-4, 6-3.
The match was decided by a point, which made Wisconsin's fourth team doubles loss hurt even more.
The No. 2 duo of senior
Josef Dodridge and Carranza won't suffer a loss in the rankings, as they displayed a 6-5 advantage at the No. 1 spot before prematurely ending.
Westerman's Wing: "Tough loss today at Purdue today. They were better than us in the big moments. We have a great opportunity tomorrow against a good Indiana team. I am excited to see how we will respond."
