Wisconsin finds 4-2 setback at Indiana

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin's struggles on the road stuck around on Sunday afternoon, as the No. 46 Badgers lost to Indiana by a score of 4-2 at the IU Tennis Center in Bloomington.

Wisconsin hasn't lost many team doubles points this season and hasn't lost the point in back-to-back matches in the past two seasons. However, the Badgers ran into a doubles buzz saw this weekend, dropping the doubles point Saturday at Purdue and again Sunday at Indiana.

Sophomore Daniel Soyfer continues to dominate opponents in the dual season. His time spent at the No. 6 spot during freshman year certainly has come and gone. The Plantation, Florida, native feels no pressure in climbing up Wisconsin's singles lineup. He moved all the way up to the two-spot on Sunday afternoon and won in three sets over Indiana's Antonio Cembellin, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. Soyfer moves to 15-3 on the season.

Senior Chema Carranza nabbed the other win for the Cardinal and White, also doing it in three-set fashion. Carranza defeated Bennett Crane, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4.

The No. 2 doubles tandem of Carranza and senior Josef Dodridge dodged another bullet with an unfinished match that was square at 6-6 as well as 3-3 in the tiebreak score.

Westerman's Wing: "I was extremely proud of the fight we played with today. We were down in the doubles and broke on two courts to face breakers. We were down sets in certain spots in singles but we came back in those as well. I thought we bounced back well from our worst performance of the season yesterday and we grew as a team. Today's performance – even in a loss – will propel us into the home stretch of the season nicely."

Up Next: Wisconsin welcomes 11th-ranked Michigan team to the Nielsen on Friday afternoon. The Badgers get a rest day in-between but entertain Michigan State on Sunday for a contest starting at Noon (CT).
