Hoare starts senior season with a fifth-place finish
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The 10th-ranked Wisconsin men's cross-country team bussed to South Bend, Indiana, to compete in the Joe Piane Invitational on Friday.
Senior Olli Hoare led the pack for the Badgers and secured a fifth-place finish overall in the five-mile race with a time of 23 minutes, 24.91 seconds. Olin Hacker finished 30th with a time of 24:02.37, and Benjamin Eidenschink secured a 42nd place finish with a time of 24:11.65 to place three Badgers in the top-50. Also running for the Badgers were Jackson Sharp (73rd), Shuaib Aljabaly (93th), Seth Hirsch (96th), and Noah Jacobs (146th).
Having three of the Badgers in the top-50 enabled them to secure an eighth-place overall finish with a score of 244.

"That was a rough outing for the opening meet of the season for our top squad. We were not race sharp. This was a quality meet with good nationally ranked teams who came off the start line hard and fast and we did not respond very well to the torrid early pace which put us is a hole early in the race.
