Badgers prepare for first Big Ten match of season
MADISON, Wis. – The No. 7 Wisconsin wrestling team is packing up and getting ready for their first dual against a Big Ten Conference opponent this season. The Badgers face off against No. 1 Iowa at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa. The match begins at 7 p.m. on Sunday and will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network.

1. bELIeve: Last year's matchup against the Hawkeyes proved to be an emotional one. The Badgers honored Eli Stickley, their 141-pounder who tragically passed away in a car accident in the summer of 2018. Barry Alvarez presented the Stickley family with Eli's Impact Scholarship Award, which will be awarded to a Wisconsin wrestler every year in Eli's honor. The story of Eli and his best friend Alex Marinelli of Iowa will air live on the Big Ten Network on Sunday at 9 p.m. after the Badger vs. Hawkeye dual.

2. BIG TEN BATTLE:Â The Badgers will face off against the Hawkeyes for their first dual against a Big Ten opponent. The Hawkeyes are currently ranked No. 1 by FloWrestling and Wisconsin moved up to No. 7 after their victory over Utah Valley.

3. FANTASTIC FOUR:Â Four Badger wrestlers remain undefeated after six duals. Seth Gross, Tristan Moran, Evan Wick and Trent Hillger lead the Badgers in dual wins this season. They have seven pins amongst them and are all ranked by FloWrestling.

4. HILLGER NAMED B1G WRESTLER OF THE WEEK:Â After his exciting pin of No. 3 Tate Orndorff, Trent Hillger was named the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week. Because of his efforts, Trent also moved up to No. 3 in the FloWrestling rankings.Â

5. BOUTS THAT RANK: Against Iowa, there will be five matches where both opponents are ranked. At 133, No. 1 Seth Gross will face off against No. 2 Austin DeSanto. In the 141-pound weight class, No. 10 Tristan Moran takes on No. 8 Max Murin. No. 15 Cole Martin will go against No. 3 Pat Lugo at 149-pounds. No. 3 Evan Wick will have a showdown with No. 2 Alex Marinelli at 165 pounds. No. 3 Trent Hillger will face off against No. 12 Tony Cassiopi.
