1. A SPECIAL SENIOR CLASS: On Saturday the Badgers will honor their six seniors - alternate captain Emily Clark, Sam Cogan, Mikaela Gardner, captain Annie Pankowski, alternate captain Maddie Rolfes and captain Sophia Shaver – before the game. The six have found their places in the UW record books as they have advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four each year they have competed while they have five WCHA titles. In addition, Clark, Cogan and Pankowski, are members of the 100-point club at UW while Gardner and Rolfes rank in the top-15 in school history in defensemen scoring.
2. BRILLIANT AT HOME AGAINST THE BUCKEYES: UW has never lost a game to OSU at LaBahn Arena with an 11-0-1Â record against the Buckeyes at the seven-year-old barn. Wisconsin has outscored OSU 51-7 at LaBahn Arena while shutting out the Buckeyes in six of the 12 games. Senior Emily Clark has been a big reason why UW has excelled against OSU at LaBahn as she has seven goals and five assists in her previous six home games against the Buckeyes.
3. IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THIS:Â The WCHA regular-season champion will be decided this weekend as the Badgers enter the weekend with a two-point lead on Minnesota, who heads north to take on Bemidji State this weekend. The winner of the WCHA regular-season title will not only receive the top seed in the upcoming WCHA playoffs, but will have a bye week the week of March 1-3 before advancing to the 2019 WCHA Final Faceoff, March 9-10, at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.
4. A BIG ADVANTAGE: The Badgers have excelled this year in not only creating numerous scoring opportunities, but also preventing shots on goal. The Badgers are averaging 39.97 shots on net per contest, which leads all eligible teams for this year's NCAA tournament while allowing an average of 16.56 shots on net, good for an NCAA-best 23.41 shots on goal margin. The Badgers are 21-0-0 this year when holding opponents to 17 or fewer shots on net.Â
5. CLARK AND CAMPBELL CLEAN UP AWARDS: The UW duo of Emily Clark and Kristen Campbell earned WCHA Forward of the Week and WCHA Goaltender of the Week honors, respectively, on Tuesday after leading the Badgers to a sweep of UMD. Clark scored a league-high three goals and had a +3 plus/minus rating while Campbell stopped 43 of the 44 shots she faced to improve to 28-4-0 on the season.
