Five things to know: The trifecta

Chicago State, Oklahoma State and Washington to pay Madison a visit

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin ramps up competitive play with three home matches against Chicago State, Oklahoma State and Washington. Admission is free for all three matches at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium

1. Westerman's wing: Head coach Danny Westerman previews the Badgers' week ahead:

"We have a very important week of matches ahead. It all starts with Chicago State on Wednesday.  We need to focus on that match, make sure we are improving, and continue to play hard while being fantastic teammates -- something we have been doing a great job of.

It will be fun to host some great tennis programs this weekend in Oklahoma State and Washington.  We need to keep improving each day this week and take care of all the little details to be ready for both tough teams. We are getting better every week and our guys have a great jump in their step right now."

2. Scouting Chicago State: The Badgers welcome the Cougars to the Nielsen on Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m. (CT) after the original dual match date was postponed due to weather. Chicago State starts off their season winless. CSU opened the year on the road against Wright State, a dual match they lost 6-1. Chicago State drew the short stick against their sister school, Illinois State, by a 6-0 decision.

This is the first time in school history that these two teams will meet.

3. Scouting Oklahoma State: A very talented Oklahoma State team comes to the Nielsen on Saturday for an early dual match that is set for a noon start. The Cowboys check in with a 4-3 overall record but exhibit incredible schedule strength through the first seven matches. OSU boasts wins over Omaha, Creighton, Arkansas and Arizona State. But the Cowboys have faced some resistance as of late, posting a three-game losing streak to powerhouse No. 1 Wake Forest, No. 22 Texas Christian and Ole Miss.

Wisconsin looks for its first win over the Cowboys, as the Badgers trail 2-0 in school history.

4. Scouting Washington: Wisconsin's final match of the week is set for Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at the Nielsen. The Huskies are below .500 to start the year, tallying a 2-3 overall record. Washington has played some exceptional talent though, with losses coming to Texas, Utah State and Santa Clara. The Huskies prevailed over Portland and Liberty at home.

Washington is a familiar foe for Wisconsin, as the two teams are a level 2-2 in school history. The Huskies got the better of the Cardinal and White in last year's road match, 5-2. Wisconsin looks to settle the score this weekend while also securing a lead in the overall series.
