COLLEGE PARK, Mary. – The Wisconsin women's tennis team (9-2, 2-0 B1G) returned to the court in style after a three-week hiatus by defeating Maryland (3-8, 1-1 B1G) 4-0 thanks to a hot start.
Wisconsin wrapped up the match early, jumping out to a 4-0 lead to lock in the win. The Badgers were victorious at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.
The doubles' victory was followed by straight set wins at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 6 singles to clinch the win for Wisconsin. Senior
Sara Castellano, ranked No. 36, maintained an undefeated singles record with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Eva Alexandrova of Maryland.
Freshman
Ava Markham and sophomore Maryann Rompf picked up the other clinching victories for the Badgers at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Up next: Wisconsin is back in action Sunday as the Badgers continue their East Coast road trip with a match against Rutgers (6-4, 1-2) at 11:30 a.m. CT.
