MADISON, Wis. – On Saturday it was
Lexi Keberle sparking the court storm for the No. 42 Wisconsin women's tennis team as the sophomore clinched UW's win over Iowa.
On Sunday, it was
Christina Zordani who stole the show; securing the Badgers' 4-3 victory over Nebraska on Senior Day and ending the regular season in victorious drama.
Tied at 3-3, the Wisconsin women's tennis team (17-4 overall, 9-2 Big Ten) was counting on junior
Christina Zordani to get to four points over Nebraska (10-17, 2-9). Zordani didn't disappoint, defeating her opponent in three sets.
Wisconsin tied the match at 1-1 behind
Anna Makarova, but Nebraska answered right back, with Vasanti Shinde defeating
Lexi Keberle, taking a 2-1 lead.
Sophomore
MaryAnn Rompf evened the match back up with a victory not much earlier than freshman
Ava Markham won her match, giving UW a 3-2 lead.
At No. 1 singles, Claire Reifeis defeated
Sara Castellano, 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 to tie the match up at 3-3 and all eyes at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium turned to Zordani.
The Badgers ended conference play with nine league wins, their most since 2002. UW also secured a runner-up finish in the Big Ten Conference, its best since 2002.

The Badgers turn their attention to the 2019 Big Ten Women's Tennis Tournament, which runs Thursday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28, in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Badgers, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, will have a bye on Thursday before opening play on Friday against the winner of Iowa/Indiana in the quarterfinals. First serve in Lincoln is set for 2 p.m. CT.
