MADISON, Wis. – After a tough road stretch, the Wisconsin (7-8, 1-4 B1G) men's tennis team looks to snap its five-game losing streak with some crucial wins over elite Big Ten teams Indiana and Purdue.Â
Friday's match against Indiana will be at the Badgers' new outdoor courts behind the Nielsen Tennis Stadium. Fans can enter the outdoor tennis courts by going through the Goodman Plaza located by Goodman Diamond.Â
1. Westerman's wing:Â
"Super pumped to be back playing at home this weekend. We love playing in front of our fans, We hope people can come out to our first outdoor match at the new facility on Friday. It's going to be an early start at 3 p.m. (CT) against a very tough Indiana team."
- Head coach Danny Westerman
2. Scouting Indiana: The Badgers first play host to Indiana on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. (CT). If the weather is as good as advertised, it will be Wisconsin's first outdoor home match of the season.Â
Indiana holds a 9-8 overall record with an impressive 3-2 record in conference play. The Hoosiers tally wins over Big Ten schools Purdue, Michigan State and then-No. 42 Northwestern. The Badgers are 28-48 all-time against Indiana, but chip away at the deficit when playing at home, holding a 13-19 record at the Nielsen.Â
3. Scouting Purdue:Â Wisconsin has a day off to turn its attention to Purdue for a match on Sunday at noon. The Big Ten battle will be somewhat of a reflationary match, as Purdue has had a similar season to the Badgers: a lot of close losses to a lot of really good teams. Purdue checks in at 7-9 overall and a 1-4 record in the Big Ten.Â
Wisconsin holds a convincing 59-22 record over the Boilermakers in school history. The Badgers are dominant at home, tallying 29 wins and only seven losses at the Nielsen.Â
