Five Things to Know: Dual play starts at home

UW's home opener awaits against Illinois State and Chicago State

MADISON, Wis. – The time has come for the Badgers, and they are more than ready. The Wisconsin men's tennis team is back on their home courts to launch a new season of team play at Nielsen Tennis Stadium. Two matchups await this Saturday, with Illinois State and 11:00 a.m. and Chicago State at 6:30 p.m.

Admission for both matches is free.

1. WESTERMAN'S WING:

2. SCOUTING ILLINOIS STATE: UW's first challenge as a team is Illinois State, which has been a common opponent in Wisconsin men's tennis history, but an unfamiliar matchup within the last ten years. The Badgers hold an undefeated record over the Redbirds, with 22 wins including 12 at home. Illinois State kicked off their season against Northwestern on Wednesday, a match they lost 1-6. Wisconsin looks to extend their 22-match winning streak this Saturday.

3. SCOUTING CHICAGO STATE: Following Illinois State, Wisconsin is up against another opponent from across the border, Chicago State. This is only the second time the Badgers and Cougars have met in school history. This matchup will also mark the start of Chicago State's spring season.

In their previous competition last season, the Badgers swept, 7-0, at Nielsen Tennis Stadium, which they hope to repeat this year.
