WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- In comeback fashion, the Wisconsin women's tennis team extended its win streak to eight after defeating William & Mary on the road Sunday morning, 4-2.
Wisconsin dropped the doubles point early in the match with all three matchups needing an extra set to decide the winner. From their, Wisconsin retired four straight William & Mary opponents after falling behind 2-0 to complete the comeback.
Xinyu Cai dominates singles play in the No. 2 spot for the Badgers, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-3 in straight sets, but the Pride wouldn't go down without a fight.
Sophomore
Ava Markham tied the match at the No. 3 spot, winning 6-4, 7-6.
The remaining two singles matches went into three sets in which
Charmaine Seah at the No. 4 spot and
Miruna Tudor battling at No. 5 both prevailed to clinch the victory for Wisconsin.
Up Next: Wisconsin will take a weekend off and then be back on the road for its first Big Ten matchup with Minnesota on Saturday, March 7 at 10 a.m.
