MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's tennis team rallied past the Denver Pioneers, 4-3, Sunday afternoon at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
In a match full of back and forth play, Wisconsin prevailed after dropping the doubles point thanks to four victories in singles play.
Ava Markham and
Miruna Tudor won their matches in straight sets. Markham, playing at the No. 3 spot, beat Britt Pursell, 6-1, 6-2, and Tudor defeated Camille Verden-Anderson 7-6, 6-2.
After
Antonela Stoica won a three-set battle at No. 1 singles against Taylor Melville,
Anna Makarova clinched the match for UW at No. 4 singles. She dropped her first set 3-6, then completed the comeback to win her second set 7-5 and her third set 6-3.
Up Next: Wisconsin will face VCU on the road Friday, February 21. Match time is 3 p.m.
