Here are five more things to know before the Badgers step on the mats:
1. LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin most recently placed third at the Illinois Matmen Open, led by two first-place finishes from Dean Hamiti (165) and Trent Hillger (285), with four additional Badgers on the podium — Austin Gomez (2nd, 149), Braxton Amos (3rd, 197), Joe Zargo (4th, 141) and Garrett Model (8th, 157).
2. W.O.W. Hamiti was named the Fanco Wrestling Co-Wrestler of the week for his performance, after winning the Matmen Open bracket with four bonus-point victories (pin, 2 tech falls and a major decision). Intermat has ranked all 10 of the Badgers top starters in their latest national rankings and the Badgers have climbed up to No. 12 in tournament rankings and No. 16 in duals. The National Wrestling Coaches Association also ranks Wisconsin as No. 16 in tournament rankings.
3. SCOUTING THE WILDCATS:
- Northwestern is fresh off two wins in a recent tri-dual earning a 39-3 victory over SIUE and a narrow 18-16 victory over Virginia.
- Chris Cannon (133) sealed the Wildcats win over the Cavaliers thanks to a last-second takedown to earn a 8-7 decision and hand the dual to the 'Cats. Teammate Yahya Thomas also picked up six points with a pin.
- Northwestern also recently placed fourth at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and Ryan Deakin (157) earned his third-straight title at the tournament with an undefeated 5-0 record in his bracket.Â
- Fun Fact: Wildcat Frankie Talshahar is the older brother of newly-signed future Badger Mike Talshahar who signed his national letter of intent in December to wrestle at Wisconsin.

- Most recently, Rutgers also wrestled at the Matmen Open and finished fifth overall as a team (UW placed 3rd).
- Greg Bulsak (197) and Sebastian Rivera (141) both finished first in their brackets, while six other RU wrestlers also placed.
- Fun Fact: Rutgers' associate head coach Donny Pritzlaff is a former Badger two-time NCAA Champion and four-time All-American.
