Five events to watch: Badgers head to Big Ten Championships

Wisconsin looks to crown Big Ten champions this weekend
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's track and field continues its indoor season at the Big Ten Conference Championships in Geneva, Ohio. The meet runs from Friday through Saturday at The Spire. Friday's events start at 9:50 a.m. CT with the pentathlon. On Saturday, field events begin at 10 a.m. CT while running events start at 11:30 a.m. CT.

Here are five events to watch this weekend.
1. HUVEN LOOKS TO MOVE UP: Junior Destiny Huven looks to move up in the 60-meter hurdles after finishing second in 2021. She ran a then-school record of 8.26 seconds in the finals last season and has improved her record time to 8.23 this season. Huven is currently ranked third in the conference, just .03 seconds out of first place.
2. THROWING DOWN WITH THE BADGERS: Wisconsin looks to score well in the throws this weekend as sophomore Chloe Lindeman is ranked second in the weight throw and junior Josie Schaefer is ranked third in the shot put. Lindeman sits fourth all time at Wisconsin in the weight throw at 70-11 3/4 while sophomore Olivia Roberts ranks 11th in the Big Ten and sixth at Wisconsin with a throw of 66-10. Lindeman finished third last season at Big Tens. Â
In the shot put, Schaefer broke her own indoor school record in the shot put last weekend with a throw of 59-6 1/4. Schaefer did not compete at the 2021 Big Ten Indoor Championships due to COVID protocols. Lindeman will also compete in the shot put.
3. SPEEDY ROBBINS: Sophomore Kiley Robbins leads Wisconsin in the 60-meter dash, facing a strong field this weekend. Robbins finished second in the Big Ten meet last season, running a school-record 7.31. She has run 7.33 this season, just .09 out of first place in the conference. Robbins is also scheduled to run the 200 meters.

4. HOW LOW CAN SHE GO: Senior Bianca Stubler broke a 41-year old record in the 400 meters at the Windy City Invitational on Feb. 12. Stubler is currently seeded second in the Big Ten with a time of 53.81, less than a second out of first place.

LAPS, LAPS AND MORE LAPS: Wisconsin has some of the top entries in the distance events as junior Victoria Heiligenthal is seeded fourth in the mile, Scarlet Dale and Alissa Niggemann are seeded third and fourth, respectively, in the 3,000 meters and Shea Ruhly and Alexa Westly come in ranked sixth and eighth, respectively, in the 5,000 meters.
