Five Things to Know: Puerto Rico Classic

Badgers head to Puerto Rico for competition
MADISON, Wis.— The Badgers are headed to Puerto Rico to compete in the Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 13-15. This will mark the first stroke-play competition of the spring season.
Here are the five things to know before the team tees off.
1. Last Time Out: Last week, the Badgers competed in the Big Ten Match Play. Wisconsin finished sixth after splitting its matches both days. On the first day, Wisconsin defeated Maryland 4-1-0 to advance, then fell 4-1-0 to Michigan State in the afternoon. On the second day, Wisconsin defeated Rutgers 4-1-0 to advance to the fifth place match where the team fell 3-1-1 to Northwestern.
2. The Tournament: The Puerto Rico Classic, hosted by Purdue, is in its 29th year. This will be the first time that Wisconsin has competed in the event. The tournament will be three rounds in shotgun format. Sunday and Monday rounds will start at 6:30 a.m CST while the final round on Tuesday will begin at 5:30 a.m.
3. The Course: The Grand Reserve Country Club is located in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico and is the host to the PGA TOUR Puerto Rico Open which will take place March 3-6. Designed by Tom Kite, the course will be playing as a 7,506-yard par-72 for the tournament.
4. The Field: Competing in the tournament are College of Charleston, East Tennessee State, Georgia, Iowa, Marquette, Maryland, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Purdue, South Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Competing for Wisconsin is Daniel Aas, Griffin Barela, Cameron Huss, Robbie Morway and Coalter Smith. Jacob Beckman will be competing as an individual.
