UW opens home slate with Big Ten series this weekend
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin softball team will play in Madison for the first time this year this weekend when it hosts Indiana at the Goodman Softball Complex. First pitch on Friday for a doubleheader is set for 3 p.m. Sunday's series finale will begin at noon
Tickets are available on each game day for $5 starting one hour before first pitch. Fans on Friday can receive a free Bucky Book, while fans on Saturday can receive a Badger Bandana, while supplies last. On Sunday, children ages 12 and under can run the bases with the Badgers after the game.
Fans will have to pay to park in Lot 76, located next to Goodman Diamond, on Friday while parking in Lot 60 and 76 on Saturday and Sunday is free for the public.
1. LAST TIME OUT: UW is coming off of a sweep of Iowa last weekend in Iowa City. The Badgers earned a 10-5 win on Friday before collecting 9-3 and 13-1 wins on Sunday. Fiona Girardot hit .417 during the sweep while Maddie Schwartz earned three wins in the circle to improve to 12-3 on the season. After sweeping the Hawkeyes, UW is one of three teams in the Big Ten with a 3-0 record.
3. ON A ROLL: The Badgers are on an eight-game winning streak, the team's longest win streak since the 2019 season. During the stretch, UW is outscoring its opponents 69-24, including a 16-3 advantage in the first inning.Kayla Konwent, Fiona Girardot, Peyton Bannon, Lauren Foster, Ally Miklesh and Morgan Kummer all are hitting above .400 during the run while Maddie Schwartz has earned six wins in the circle with a 1.94 ERA and 25 shutouts.
4. AGAINST IU: The Badgers are 27-17 all time against the Hooisers, but dropped both meetings against IU last year in Leesburg, Florida. Prior to the series in Florida, the Badgers had won six-straight against Indiana, including a series in Madison on April 19-21, 2019. Kayla Konwent has five hits and two home runs in three career games against Indiana while Lauren Foster also has five hits in five career games against IU.
5. HOME,SWEET HOME: This weekend's series marks the first series at Goodman Diamond that will feature fans since UW faced Nebraska in early May of 2019. UW is 25-12 at Goodman Diamond since the start of the 2018 season. This weekend's matchup against the first of four-home series this year as UW will also host Michigan State (April 15-17), Nebraska (22-24) and Michigan (May 6-8).

2. WALK THIS WAY: After matching a career high in hits and home runs on Friday, Iowa didn't take any chances with Badger slugger Kayla Konwent on Sunday. The senior was walked nine times during the doubleheader, including eight intentional free passes. Konwent's five walks in UW's 9-3 win on Sunday set a school record and are the most walks in a game this year. Konwent leads the Big Ten and ranks 16th in the country in on-base percentage with a .559 clip.It may have been cold in Iowa this weekend, but our bats were on fire!
