Badgers head to final regular-season competition
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin is headed to the Purdue Spring Invitational on April 9-10, the Badgers' final tournament of the season before the Big Ten Championship.
Here are five things to know before the team tees off:
1. Last Time Out: Wisconsin finished eighth at Hootie at Bulls Bay on March 27-29. The team shot an eight-under-par 856 and was led by the duo of Griffin Barela and Cameron Huss. They both shot a two-under-par 214 to finish T21.
2. The Course: The Ackerman-Allen Course is home to the Purdue Boilermakers at Birck Boilermaker Complex. The course will be playing a 7,275-yard par-71 for the tournament.
3. The Tournament: This is the 18th year of the Purdue Spring Invitational. Wisconsin has competed in the tournament 14 times, its best finish coming in fourth place in 2009. Last season, the team finished in eighth with an 881. Sam Anderson finished tied for fourth with a three-under-par 213.
4. The Field: The 14-team field is made up of Ball State, Butler, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana, IUPUI, Loyola Chicago, Miami (OH), Minnesota, Purdue, Rutgers, Troy and Wisconsin. Competing for Wisconsin is Daniel Aas, Griffin Barela, Cameron Huss, Robbie Morway and Coalter Smith. Jack Blair and Ryan Smith will be competing as individual entries.
