Badgers soar past Griffins in elimination game

Bannon, Schlosser come up with clutch hits for UW in NCAA tournament

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A pair of outfielders came up big for the Wisconsin softball team on Saturday night as Peyton Bannon and Molly Schlosser propelled the Badgers to a 3-0 win over Canisius in an elimination game in the NCAA tournament.

After a scoreless four innings, Bannon broke open the deadlock in the bottom of the fifth inning, launching her second home run of the season over the left field fence to give UW a 1-0 lead.

In the sixth inning, Schlosser hit a double into left center field to plate Lauren Foster and Fiona Girardot to give UW breathing room against the Griffins.

Gabi Salo made her first start of the season, throwing four innings of shutout softball. Tessa Maganimo pitched the next one and two-third innings and got the win before Maddie Schwartz came in to close out the game and posted the save.
