COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 5/8 Wisconsin women's hockey team dropped a  2-1 overtime heartbreaker at top-ranked Ohio State on Friday night at the OSU Ice Rink.
Lacey Eden scored the lone goal for the Badgers (16-6-1, 12-4-1 WCHA) late in the first period, putting the Badgers on the board. The sophomore took a feed from
Britta Curl to give UW a 1-0 lead, marking Eden's team-leading 14th goal of the season. Â
However, the Buckeyes tied things up 1-1 after capitalizing on an opportunity as a Badger penalty expired. The Badgers penalty kill came up huge in the middle stanza, killing a major penalty and two minor penalties in the frame.Â
After a scoreless third period, the Badgers generated a couple of great chances in overtime, but ultimately OSU won with a goal with 39 seconds left in 3-on-3 overtime to take the extra point in the WCHA standings.Â
Cami Kronish made 34 saves in the setback.Â
