1. LAST TIME OUT: UW is coming off of a tough weekend at top-ranked Ohio State, dropping a 2-1 overtime thriller to the Buckeyes on Friday night before falling 5-0 in the series finale on Saturday. Lacey Eden scored her team-leading 14th goal in the Badgers' Friday setback.

2. LAST TIME VS. MINNESOTA STATE: UW swept Minnesota State earlier this season, earning a 5-2 win on Dec. 9 before closing out the first half of the season with a 5-1 win over the Mavericks. Laila Edwards, Kirsten Simms and Natalie Buchbinder all posted four points in the sweep while Cami Kronish earned a pair of wins in net for the Badgers.

3. KILLING IT: The Badgers' penalty kill has been up to the challenge as of late, allowing only one power-play goal in their last six games. The Cardinal and White have killed off 12 straight penalties dating back to Jan. 1, 2023 against No. 4 Quinnipiac. UW held Ohio State, which leads the NCAA in power-play percentage, scoreless on seven power-play chances this past weekend.

4. DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES: Both the Badgers and the Mavericks feature head coaches from the storybook 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team that captured gold in Lake Placid, N.Y. UW head coach Mark Johnson and MSU head coach John Harrington were forwards for the Americans and both recorded points in the team's legendary semifinal against the Soviets.

5. FILL THE BOWL: The seventh-ever Fill the Bowl game is coming up fast as the Badgers' will take on St. Cloud State in the Kohl Center on Friday, Feb. 3 in a 7 p.m. contest.  UW is teaming up with Madison Ice Inc. for the event and is asking fans to donate gently used or new hockey equipment to help support MII's Learn-to-Skate programs, Sled Hockey Program, Special Hockey Program and Adaptive & Underprivileged Learn-to-Skate programs. Fans are encouraged to donate helmets, winter mittens/gloves, hockey gloves, skates (figure and hockey), hockey sticks, and hockey pads.
