MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin men's tennis team ended its fall season this past weekend as it hosted the Big Ten Individual Championships inside Nielsen Tennis Stadium. 

The team's four freshmen, Collin Beduhn, Matthew Fullerton, Oliver Olsson and Tomas Zlatohlavek, played in a total of 18 singles matches and nine doubles matches, and gave Badger fans a live preview into the season ahead.

In the main draw singles Fullerton and Zlatohlavek advanced into main draws rounds of 16 before falling to Saiprakash Goli (Northwestern) 6-4, 6-4, and Preston Stearns (Ohio State) 6-2, 6-4, respectively. However, in the round of 32, Fullerton defeated number 85 ITA Preseason Singles player Will Cooksey of Michigan 6-2, 5-7, [10-8], a huge win for the freshman. Olsson advanced to the main draw round of 32 with a win in the first round over Luc Boulier (Indiana) 5-7, 6-3, [10-6], before falling to Gleb Blekher (Northwestern) 6-3, 6-2 in the round of 16. Beduhn lost his initial match to Nikolay Sysoev (Nebraska) 6-2, 4-6, [10-6], but went on to win his final three matches of the tournament.

The doubles matches consisted of Olsson/Zlatohlavek and Fullerton/Beduhn. Olsson and Zlatohlavek put on a commanding performance at the B1G Individuals, going 4-1 and advancing to the main draw round of 16. The team capped off its weekend with a win over Michael Andrew/Ilya Tiraspolsky (Indiana), 6-4. Fullerton and Beduhn went 1-3, with a win over Andrew Meier/Deacon Thomas (Indiana) 6-3.

UP NEXT
The Badgers spend the next two months training before returning to action on Sunday, Jan 14, as they travel to Miami to take on the Hurricanes in their first dual of 2024.
