PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico - The Wisconsin softball team fell to No. 23 Ole Miss Saturday night with a final score of 6-2 to wrap up the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.

Mississippi was able to get the bats going right away while facing Wisconsin's starting pitcher Maddie Schwartz. The SEC team tallied three hits and three runs in the first inning, including a two-run bomb by Mya Stevenson to give the Rebels an early advantage.

A two-run triple continued the scoring surge for Ole Miss as the Rebels plated three more runs to make 6-0 after two innings.

After a Marytherese Nevin walk to lead off the sixth, Molly Schlosser broke up the no-hitter in the sixth after smashing a double down the left field line. Nevin later crossed the play after a Rebel wild pitch to get the Badgers on the scoreboard. Schlosser also crossed home plate after a Kayla Konwent RBI ground out to second base, cutting into the Rebel lead, 6-2.

Skylar Sirdashney looked to continue the rally for the Badgers as she added a double of her own in the same inning with two outs; however, she was left stranded at the next at-bat ending the UW rally.

Freshman Paytn Monticelli came into relief for Schwartz early in the game and held the No. 23 team in the country in check. The two-time Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year pitched 4.2 innings and allowed just two hits, one walk, and struck out four in row. The young right-handed pitcher held the Rebels scoreless after entering the game.

Next up, the Badgers will prepare for the ACC/Big10 Challenge in Atlanta with the first game on Friday, Feb. 17, against Georgia Tech at 3:00 p.m.
