MADISON, Wis. – The No. 6 Wisconsin women's hockey team wraps up its regular season with its toughest home test to date, as UW faces top-ranked Ohio State at LaBahn Arena this Saturday and Sunday. Puck drop on Saturday is set for 3 p.m., while Sunday's series finale begins at 2 p.m.
Both games are sold out, but fans can watch both games via B1G+ and can listen to Sunday's game on 1310 WIBA AM.Â
Fans should note that parking this season will be $5 per game in Lots 29, 46 and 91 is subject to availability. ADA parking is also available for $5 in Lots 48 and 87 and is subject to availability. On Saturday, fans are encouraged not to arrive until after 1 p.m. due to the lots being at capacity for the men's basketball game at 11 a.m. Also on Saturday, fans must leave their parking lots immediately following the women's hockey game to make way for men's hockey permit holders.
1. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers are coming off of a series win at then-No. 3 MInnesota, drawing the Golden Gophers, 2-2, on Friday before earning a shootout win thanks to a clutch
Britta Curl goal. On Saturday, Wisconsin rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Minnesota, 7-5, as four Badger rookies found the back of the net in the series clinching win.
Cami Kronish made 80 saves in the series to improve to 2-0-2 against the Golden Gophers this season.Â
2. DUO EARN WCHA WEEKLY HONORS: A pair of UW freshmen were recognized for their efforts during the series win at Minnesota, as
Caroline Harvey was named the WCHA Defender of the Week and
Claire Enright took home WCHA Rookie of the Week honors. It marks Harvey's first WCHA Defender of the Week honor, as she had been named the WCHA Rookie of the Week twice this season. For Enright, she picked up her second career WCHA weekly honor. Harvey posted a goal and an assist in UW's 7-5 win on Saturday while Enright set a career high with three points.Â
3. HOME COOKING: UW is gearing up for back-to-back weekends at LaBahn Arena for the first time since UW opened its home slate on Sept. 29-30 against LIndenwood and opened league play against St. Thomas on Oct. 6-7. The Badgers are 10-2-1 at LaBahn Arena this season, outsourcing their opponents 64-13 in the 10-year-old barn. The Badgers will also enjoy their 12th and 13th sellouts of the season this weekend and currently lead the NCAA in attendance, averaging 3,120 fans per game.Â
4. SENIOR SUNDAY: The Badgers will recognize seven seniors prior to puck drop on Sunday, including
Natalie Buchbinder,
Jesse Compher,
Chayla Edwards,
Cami Kronish,
Nicole LaMantia,
Grace Shirley and
Sophie Shirley. Six of the seven seniors have won at least one NCAA championship during their time with the Badgers, while four of the seven have represented their countries at the international level during their respective careers.Â
5. PLAYOFF HOCKEY AT LA BAHN: Thanks to their finish in the WCHA regular-season standings, the Badgers will host a WCHA First Round Playoff Series, Feb. 24-26, at LaBahn Arena against a team to be determined. Tickets are now available for the first two games as UW opens its postseason push on Friday, Feb. 24 with a 7 p.m. game, while game two of the series begins on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 3 p.m. The third game of the series, if necessary, would take place on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 3:30 p.m. and tickets for that game would not be available until after Saturday's contest.
