Head Coach Chris Clark
On the morning...
"The first varsity eight squad kept it tight with Syracuse, which is a great result for this time of the year. They are former national champions with experienced rowers. Especially with limited water time.
"The third varsity eight squad had one of the most impressive runs I've seen, their attack was extremely impressive and these guys will make a strong run for moving up in boats about this race."
On the evening...
Varsity Eight
"Tail wind, so fast conditions, but you can tell we haven't rowed. We're beating everyone off the line, but at about 500 we shifted to about 35 strokes per minute and in a tail wind, that is too slow. Stanford was at least two beats higher. They got a length and basically held it. Those are all the things you get later in the season, plus in a tail wind you have to row high to use that tail wind.
Second Varsity EIght
The 2V, a much better race than the morning. They shortened up and didn't take advantage of their length earlier. This was much more competitive. They're making progress. They're not happy by any means, but they're much closer.
Third Varsity Eight
"The third varsity team just keeps getting better. They are progressing just the way they should."
"Based on the times, we are most compatible with Boston University in the varsity and second varsity so tomorrow will be exciting.
Up Next: Wisconsin hopes continues its challenging weekend against some of the nation's top competition with races against No. 11 Boston on day two of the Pac-12 Invite on Sunday.
