REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The 12th-ranked Wisconsin men's rowing team capped off its second and final day at the Pac-12 Invite.
The varsity eight boat highlighted the day, getting an impressive win against No. 11 Boston University by a three-second margin. The second and third varsity eight squads competed against some of the top competition and gave it their all.

Head Coach Chris Clark
On the varsity eight
"We always have close races against BU. The first boat got their margin on this course and held it -- unlike the first two races we were just more aggressive today. It takes a while of training and at higher pacing and intensity for you to really believe you can maintain that kind of velocity and explosion for 2000 meters. It was an excellent victory. We really needed that.
On the second varsity eight
"The 2V had a lot of speed, every race the ran they got off the line first, but nothing natural about it or too sustainable. They raced hard for sure, but they were disappointed. We are excited, we have a lot of good guys in that boat and in the third eight to race it off to see who actually belongs in what boat."
On racing Cal with the third varsity eight
"We're not even racing the same class in our third boat right now. We have essentially an old school freshman boat with novices against many internationals each time we raced them this weekend. All experienced guys from Cal. We knew we weren't going to win those races. We knew how good they are.
"They just kept getting better. Crazy development from two novices in the stern pair who picked up an oar for the first time in September and they are racing right in the thick of it for guys who have rowed for years so I'm very proud of those guys.
On returning to Madison
"Everybody's excited to get back. We hear there's supposed to be good weather and that's the best news we've heard all week."
Up Next: Wisconsin will shift their focus towards a rematch at No. 11 Boston University and a race against No. 6 Northeastern during an eastern trip on April 29 and 30.
